Lucknow, November 17: Just before the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has suffered a major setback as four Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) have joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Wednesday.

All these leaders took the membership of the party in the presence of BJP State President Swatantra Dev Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma.

Among the four members of the SP’s Legislative Council, Chandrashekhar’s grandson Ravi Shankar Singh, Narendra Bhati, who was a minister in the SP government, CP Chandra, MLC from Gorakhpur and Rama Niranjan, SP’s MLC from Jhansi, took the BJP flag today. Along with them his supporters have also taken membership of BJP.

It is worth mentioning that most of the council members who left the SP and joined the BJP are MLCs from the municipal area.

On this occasion, BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh said that since many decades the loyalty soldier of SP, popular leader Narendra Bhati, who made it powerful, has joined BJP. This will strengthen the party and the SP will be wiped out. With the arrival of Ravi Shankar, the BJP will be strengthened in Ballia and surrounding areas. CP Chand has returned to the BJP. With the arrival of Rama Niranjan, the BJP will be strengthened in Bundelkhand.

He said that today Akhilesh Yadav will not sleep. He told the BJP office-bearers and workers that by electing the SP’s workers above their sector, they should join the BJP.
