Rs 80,856 recovered from six anti-CAA rioters in Kanpur

Kanpur, March 17: The district administration has recovered Rs 80,856 from six rioters who set arson and vandalized the Yatimkhana police post during violence against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in the district.

The six accused namely, Yasin, Armaan, Irfan, Dilshad, Gurgut and Liaquat have made drafts of 13,476 rupees of their share and submitted it to the nodal officer and ADM City office on Monday.

However, a fine of Rs 13,476 was to be charged per person. The hooligans have handed over this amount to the district administration through a draft.

Giving information about the recovery, Superintendent of Police East Rajkumar Aggarwal said on Tuesday that public property was damaged during the violence. So, A team was formed to assess this damage. The team had issued a notice to 21 people assessing the compensation of two lakh 83 thousand rupees.  SP East said that the process of recovering the remaining amount from the remaining 15 accused will be completed asap
