Rising of Covid: 8,490 fresh cases of corona reported across UP, 50% cases from Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Kanpur

Lucknow, 08 April: The deadly coronavirus infection across the Uttar Pradesh is unstoppable as total of 8,490 fresh cases of infection have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours.

Of these, over 50 percent of the Covid cases have been reported from the districts of Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Kanpur.

State’s Additional Chief Secretary Medical and Health Amit Mohan Prasad told here on Thursday that a large number of corona testing work is being carried out across the state. Testing capacity has been increased. A total of 2, 04,878 samples were examined in the last one day. A total of 3, 61, 47,340 samples have been investigated so far in the state. 85,930 samples of Covid-19 have been sent from different districts.

He informed that out of 39,338 active cases of Covid-19 in the state, 22,904 people are in home isolation whereas in private hospitals 770 patients are undergoing treatment and remaining patients are also getting free treatment in government hospitals.

6, 06,063 people have recovered so far

ACS Health informed that so far 6, 06,063 people have been discharged from Covid-19 in the state. A population of 15,44,63,517 of 3,18,44,028 households has been surveyed through 5,21,397 team days in 1,93,343 regions through surveillance teams in the state.

โ€œOn the other hand, vaccination against Covid-19 is being done for those above 45 years of age in the state. So far, 66, 88,260 people have been given the first dose of vaccine and 11, 79,437 people have been given the second dose of vaccine, thus, a total of 78, 67,697 people have been received vaccine jabs,โ€ he added.

Prasad informed that the Village Monitoring Committee, Mohalla Monitoring Committee has been reactivated in urban and rural areas to control the spread of Covid infection. Necessary action is being taken through these committees by identifying the people coming from the transitional states and taking information about the infection from them.

He has appealed to people coming from outside the state to understand their social responsibility and spend a few days at home. Be sure to check for Covid-19 if you see any symptoms of infection. This will protect yourself and your family from Covid-19.

Vaccination of media persons under focus campaign

Prasad further apprised that today media people are being vaccinated under the Focus Campaign. Vaccination work will be done in government and private establishments from next week. It is important to be extremely careful in view of the Covid infection. The use of masks is the observance of responsibility and social responsibility towards society.

He informed that the infection is not yet eradicated, hence special precautions are needed. However, after covid vaccination, one must follow the Covid protocols. Continue to wash your hands with soap and water. Avoid visiting crowded places. He said that the elders of the household should get vaccinated.

 Chief Minister gave necessary guidelines

Additional Chief Secretary Information Navneet Sehgal said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday in a review meeting of the status of Covid-19, District Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Gautam Budhnagar, Jhansi, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Agra, Saharanpur and Moradabad. Information about the action being taken in connection with treatment of Covid-19 has been received and necessary instructions have been given by the District Magistrates (DMs).

He has said that in districts where more than 100 cases of Covid-19 are coming or over 500 active cases, the District Magistrates of those districts should take decisions regarding closure of secondary schools (except examinations) according to local circumstances.

โ€œSimilarly, appropriate decision should be taken regarding controlling night movement in these districts. In this order, the District Magistrates in some districts have decided to impose night curfew to control the traffic. In this, it is being ensured that services of essential materials like medicine, food grains, etc. are not interrupted,โ€ he said.

Reaching 19 crore people, their well-being was known

Sehgal said that under the focus vaccination, people of the media are being vaccinated today. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, a special campaign is going on for control of Covid in the state, through which information is being received from people by going door to door. Under the surveillance campaign, their movement has been known by reaching about 19 crore people out of the 24 crore population of the state. The number of covid test and surveillance campaign has been intensified to prevent infection in the state. He informed that 2, 04,878 Covid-19 tests have been done in the state today.

He appealed to all the people of the state to follow the manuals of Covid-19, like washing their hands regularly with soap and water, putting on masks as well as taking part in the vaccination process that is going on.
