Lucknow, 20 December: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress for violence during protests in the capital Lucknow and Sambhal. Maya said here on Friday that her party does not believe in violence.

The BSP supremo said that she and her party are also opposed to the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA). But, the way the BSP people protest is different. Mayawati said, “We do not believe in committing violence causing damage to public property like other parties during protests.”

She has appealed to BSP activists that at present there is a state of emergency in the country. In such a situation, the party workers should adopt another method of protest and avoid getting on the road.

Significantly, in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the SP had organized a state-wide dharna and demonstration on Thursday. Congress people also joined this protest. This protest of SP and Congress took violent forms in Lucknow and Sambhal.
