New Delhi, March 25: The Ministry of Railways has taken strict action, taking serious action after a passenger complained about the quality of food on board Train No. 21896 (Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express) on March 15.
According to the Ministry, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been fined Rs 10 lakh in this matter. Additionally, the concerned service provider has been fined Rs 50 lakh and its contract has been terminated. The
Ministry of Railways clarified that passenger safety, hygiene, and quality are its top priorities, and such negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
It is noteworthy that Train No. 21896 Vande Bharat Express is a modern semi-high speed train running between Patna and Tatanagar, covering a distance of approximately 450 kilometers, and offers onboard catering.
It has been reported that during a journey on March 15th, a passenger lodged a complaint regarding the quality of the food served. Following the complaint, the Railways investigated the matter and took prompt action against the culprits.
According to railway sources, complaints regarding the quality of food on premium trains have been reported from time to time. In such cases, the Railways is continuously taking steps to increase monitoring, strictly enforce service standards, and ensure accountability.
The Railway Ministry stated that quality control will be further tightened to provide better and safer services to passengers, and necessary improvements will be made to prevent similar incidents in the future.
