IIT Kanpur Professor commits suicide

Kanpur, July 08: Assistant Professor Pramod Subramanian (40) of the Computer and Engineering Department of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday, police said.  

Police reached the spot after receiving information and started the investigation into the matter.

During this time, no suicide note has been recovered to the police. However, by sending the body to the autopsy, the police are looking into the cause of suicide.

According to the information, Pramod lived with his wife Preeti in the campus of IIT Kanpur. His wife is also a professor in the same department. On Wednesday, Pramod’s body was found hanging from a rope in his room. Campus guards, who came to know about the incident, lowered the body from the gallows and informed the police.

As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and took possession of the body and examined the scene closely.

At the same time, after the death of the husband, the wife’s condition is insurmountable, she is unable to tell the police anything.

In this regard, the police station in-charge Vinod Kushwaha said that when he reached the spot after getting the information, the staff here took the body from the hanging. No suicide note was found from the scene during the investigation.

At the same time, IIT director Abhay Karandikar has expressed grief over the untimely demise of Professor Pramod. He has also told that no information has been provided to him by the police so far. In such a situation, he cannot say anything that why Pramod has hanged himself.
