Gold medal in Paralympics is a special moment for Indian sports: PM Modi

New Delhi, 30th August: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated shooters Avani Lekhara for winning gold medals in Tokyo Paralympics and Yogesh Kathuniya on winning silver medals in discus throw, saying it is indeed a special moment for Indian sports.

In Tokyo Paralympics, India’s Avani Lekhara has targeted the gold medal in 10m air rifle with 229.1 points. This is India’s first gold medal in Paralympics. On the other hand, Yogesh Kathuniya has won silver medal in men’s discus throw.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted and said, “Unforgettable performance Avani Lekhara. Congratulations on winning the gold for the hard work you deserved. You made this possible with your hardworking nature and passion for shooting. This is a special moment for Indian sports. Wishing you all the best for the future.”

In another tweet, Modi said, “Excellent performance by Yogesh Kathuniya. Glad they have brought home the silver medal. His exemplary success will inspire budding athletes. Congratulations to them. Best wishes to them for their future endeavours.
