Ranchi, 12 February: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday presented former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the ED court amid tight security after the five-day remand period ended. The ED again sought four-day remand for questioning.ย The court of ED Special Judge Rajeev Ranjan allowed three days’ remand after arguments from both the sides.

After getting the remand, the ED team left for the ED regional office along with Hemant. Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan appeared on behalf of Hemant. Additional Solicitor General Anil Kumar presented the case on behalf of ED. ED will interrogate Hemant in the chat case with Vinod Singh.

It is noteworthy that ED had arrested Hemant Soren on the night of 31 January. After this, on February 1, ED presented Hemant Soren in the court. The court had reserved its decision after hearing the case. Then on February 2, the ED court sent Hemant Soren on ED remand for five days from February 3.

The court had directed ED to continue the medical checkup of Hemant Soren during police remand. He was also asked not to indulge in any kind of physical or mental torture. Apart from this, the court had given permission to Hemant Soren to meet his family members and his lawyer during interrogation. The duration of the meeting was fixed for 30 minutes. Earlier on February 7, ED had taken Hemant on remand for five days.
