Delhi MCD Polls: Over 40,000 jawans deployed for security

New Delhi, 3 December: Preparations for the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections have been completed. The Election Commission has handed over the responsibility of making elaborate security arrangements for the polling on Sunday to the Delhi Police and other central forces. During this, more than 60,000 jawans have been deployed in different 13 districts of Delhi, from the security of polling booths to keeping the polling normal and to control any kind of disturbing incidents. The borders of other states adjacent to Delhi will be closed from Saturday midnight. Only essential workers will be allowed to move across the border.

DCP Anand Kumar Mishra informed that 40,000 additional personnel of Delhi Police have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the elections. About 20,000 home guards of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan have also been deployed in the election system. Apart from this, 108 battalions of paramilitary forces will be deployed in Delhi for peaceful conduct of elections. Apart from this, the local police will continue patrolling the area to maintain peace and control any unusual incident in the area. In addition to all these arrangements, the police force has been kept in reserve.

According to the DCP, the border will be sealed after midnight near Badarpur on the Delhi-Faridabad border. Rajokri and other borders with Gurugram will also be closed in view of the elections. During this time, entry will be allowed only on showing proper documents for people connected with essential services and for any unavoidable work. Security will remain tight in areas adjoining Rohtak and Sonepat districts of Haryana.

According to the police officials, in the year 2020 or in the last few days, the security system at the polling booths located in the areas where social harmony has deteriorated and other types of problems have come to the fore. North East Delhi Police forces will be deployed in large numbers in all sensitive areas including North Delhi.
