Delhi, 29 March: The Congress party has been dealt with fresh notices from the income-tax department, asking them to pay a hefty amount of Rs 1,823.08 crore. This move has been condemned by the party, as they accuse the ruling BJP of indulging in “tax terrorism” to weaken them financially ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh and party treasurer Ajay Maken addressed a press conference to bring light to this issue and also alleged that the BJP has collected a sum of Rs 8,200 crore through the “electoral bonds scam”.

They further claimed that the BJP is engaging in “tax terrorism” while trying to financially cripple the opposition parties. However, the Congress has made it clear that they will not be intimidated by these notices and will continue their campaign for the upcoming parliamentary polls. They are determined to take their guarantees to the people of the country and fight against these unjust actions.

The Congress also plans to approach the Supreme Court to seek justice and put an end to this targeted campaign by the I-T department, which they believe is working as a ?frontal organisation? for the BJP. This move by the I-T department has been described as premeditated and diabolical by the Congress, as they claim that old returns are being reopened on baseless grounds.

Despite these challenges, the Congress remains resilient and promises to be more aggressive in their approach towards the ongoing elections.
