Azamgarh, February 12: National General Secretary of Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Bilariaganj on Wednesday. Here she met the women injured in lathicharge during the protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). Priyanka was also accompanied by party state president Ajay Kumar Lallu. However, other party leaders and media were barred outside meeting venue.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra left Varanasi at around 10 am on Wednesday and left for Azamgarh via Jaunpur. At around 12 noon, her convoy reached the Jagdishpur railway crossing and then to the Congress camp office in Jogiyapur, where Congress workers welcomed by garlanding her. Priyanka herself got down from the car and met the people. During this time, she was seen avoiding  talking to the media, saying that she was late in reaching Azamgarh and went ahead. Instead of coming to the district headquarters, Priyanka’s convoy went straight to Bilariaganj via the Bhanwar Nath bypass from Kaptanganj.

Tight security arrangements were made in view of Priyanka Gandhi’s arrival. The Bilariaganj was completely converted into a police cantonment. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Bilariaganj at around 1:10 pm.

Though, Congress workers tried to meet her here, but the police stopped them and She went with state president Ajay Kumar Lallu directly to meet the women injured in the lathicharge.
