Shahjahanpur, 11 Nov: According to authorities, a woman was raped multiple times by her husband and his younger brother following a ‘triple talaq,’ with the assistance of several other persons, including a cleric. Six persons are wanted by the police.

According to the woman’s complaint, she married a man named Salman five years ago. Salman divorced her a few months ago using the now-illegal triple talaq method. “Salman, on the advice of a cleric, one Guddu Haji, then informed the woman that if she married and divorced his younger brother, he would accept her as his wife again,” her complaint stated.

Even when she complied, the younger brother refused to divorce her, and both brothers began raping her, according to a senior police officer. “On Salman’s assurance, the woman married his brother Islam, who refused to divorce her. Since then, the lady has claimed that both Salman and Islam gang raped her on many times,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar. The woman filed a complaint with a local court, and the FIR was filed on Monday, following the judge’s direction.

“Based on the complaint, we have booked Guddu Haji, Salman, Islam, and three of their family members with gangrape (376 IPC), unnatural sex (377D IPC), and provisions of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019,” the official added. The lady was sent to the hospital for a medical examination before being brought before a magistrate to give her statement. “The accused in the case have fled, and attempts are being undertaken to apprehend them,” Kumar added.
