YouTuber Elvish Yadav sent to 14 days judicial custody

Noida, 17 March: A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district on Sunday ordered 14-day judicial custody of YouTuber Elvish Yadav, arrested in the snake venom smuggling case. After arresting Elvish Yadav, Noida police station produced him in Surajpur court. 

On the other hand, the police has also imposed NDPS Act on him. Alvish was called for questioning by the police on Sunday. Last year, an FIR was registered against Elvish in Noida Sector-39 police station. A case was registered against Elvish Yadav along with five others for providing snake venom for entertainment at parties in Delhi-NCR. 

An animal welfare activist had filed a complaint in this regard. The police had also arrested many accused in this case. The accused had told the police that snake venom was brought from Badarpur for parties. Rahul, an accused in the case, told the police that he used to arrange snakes and poison in rave parties, as per the demand, he used to provide snake charmers, trainers and other things. He brought it from a village near Badarpur in Delhi, a district considered to be a stronghold of snake charmers. 

Earlier, Elvish Yadav, a YouTuber, was detained on Sunday by Noida Police in connection with an inquiry into the potential use of snake venom as a recreational drug during a party here, police said.

Yadav was one of six persons identified in a FIR submitted at the Sector 49 police station on November 3, last year. Five other suspects were detained but are presently free on bond, according to authorities.

The charge was filed under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, as well as for criminal conspiracy under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code, according to officials. The matter was eventually transferred from Sector 49 to Sector 20 police station for investigation.

“The accused has been arrested by a team from Sector 20 police station that was investigating the case,” Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Mishra stated.
