Yogi clears congenital heart disease hospital in UP

Lucknow, 12 February: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday gave instructions to set up a children’s hospital for newborn babies suffering from congenital heart disease at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI).

Yogi said that many children are born with heart disease in the state. Many of these babies require surgery for heart disease in the first year. Many die due to lack of treatment. Keeping this in view a Center for Excellence in Pediatric Cardiology Unit should be set up in SGPGI, at the earliest.

Mrinalani Sethi, founder and president of America’s Saloni Heart Foundation, and her husband, Himanshu Sethi, met Yogi and asked him to set up a 30-bed children’s hospital and expressed their willingness to invest ?500 crore.

CM Yogi welcomed the proposal and assured all kinds of cooperation from the government. After its successful implementation, the unit is expected to expand in phases and set up another hospital in association with BHU. Every year, surgery of 50,000 children suffering from this disease and treatment of 10,000 children will be possible here.
