“Viral” news, if you don’t vote, Rs 350 will be deducted from your bank a/c is baseless: CEO, Uttar Pradesh

 Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh’s Chief electoral officer L. Venkateshwarlu has said that the newspaper clipping getting viral on social media with the news that ” if you don’t cast your vote in the upcoming general elections , Rs 350 will be deducted from your bank a/c, is baseless, unauthentic and beyond the truth. He further clarified that no such order has been issued by the Election Commission of India [ECI]. Hence he appealed to the public not to pay attention on such rumors .

Chief election officer has also clarified that EC has not issued any such order wherein it is said that if voters bank a/c will be found insufficient balance, or don’t have bank account , then the amount will be deducted from their next mobile recharge. 

Recently , a newspaper clipping with the news that if you don’t cast your vote in Lok Sabha elections [ which is scheduled to be held in 7 phases from April11, 2019 to May19, 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha ]  then Rs 350 will be deducted from bank a/c is getting viral on various platforms of social media.
