Varanasi: 3 VDA employees caught pants down while taking bribe

Varanasi, July 19: The Anti-corruption team took action in Ramnagar area of โ€‹โ€‹Varanasi on Saturday and arrested three employees of the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 in cash.

The arrested employees include Assistant Engineer Gaurav Prakash Singh posted in the Development Authority Office (Padav), Junior Engineer Ashok Kumar Yadav and Associate Engineer Mohammad Anas working on contract. This action was taken on the written complaint of Ajay Kumar Gupta, resident of Ramnagar.

According to the complaint, the said employees were demanding Rs 25,000 from him in lieu of not taking any action on the notice of VDA.

The Anti-corruption team sent Ajay Gupta with chemical-coated notes as per the entire plan. As soon as Ajay reached the VDA office located in Zone-5, Padav on Saturday afternoon, the three employees were about to take the money and keep it in the trunk of the car when the team caught them on the spot.

The team said that legal action is being taken against the three accused in Ramnagar police station.
