UP Police to install 2000 POS machines for digital payment of challans

Lucknow, June 25: A new system of digital payment of fine in challan of vehicles is going to start across Uttar Pradesh.

In the first phase, 2,000 Point of Sale (POS) machines has come to implement this system. In this, 50 machines have been received by the Lucknow Traffic Department. At present, the traffic police are being made hi-tech. Trial for this has started.

In this, 50 machines have been found by the Lucknow Traffic Department. For the new system of digital payments, the traffic police of all 75 districts of the entire state will be equipped with about 10,000 POS machines. Trial for this has started.

At present, there is a facility to deposit the fine of the challan only at the SP Traffic, DCP Traffic Office or other designated places. Countryโ€™s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) has been given the responsibility of training traffic police personnel to make digital payments through POS machines.

ADG Traffic and Road Safety Ashok Kumar Singh said that digital payment of challan can be done by scanning debit card or QR code through POS machine at traffic police booths of intersections if vehicles are challaned.

He said that the responsibility of training traffic policemen to make digital payments through POS machines has been given to the employees of the SBI.

Singh added, on Saturday, SBI employees gave tips to the traffic police in different districts of the state. Arrangements are also being made to deposit old challans through POS machines. Along with this, POS machines will be activated for UPI payment, so that digital payments do not face problems.
