UP Police steps up action against drunk driving on New Year’s eve

Lucknow, 30 December: In view of the celebrations of New Year-2021, Director General of Police (DGP) Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has given strict instructions to all police heads of the districts to make elaborate traffic and security arrangements for the crowd.

He said that the guidelines issued by the government should be strictly followed in the light of Covid-19 pandemic.

The DGP said that New Year Eve is celebrated on the intervening night of December 31 so on this occasion, people drive fast vehicles and they also drink and drive. In such a situation there is a strong possibility of road accidents etc. Keeping all these things in mind, effective police management, traffic arrangements should be ensured at the identified places.

Checking of those people who drink alcohol should be ensured effectively through the breathanalyzer and tough action should be taken against those who is found driving vehicle under the influence of alcohol . Continuous vigilance should also be kept on criminal, anti-social elements.

The DGP also said that on this occasion, special security arrangements should be made at hotels, clubs, recreation establishments and various public places and strong police management and effective patrolling along with very strict vigilance and vigilance.
