UP: Minister hands over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to martyr family

Shahjahanpur, 14 October: Indian Army soldier Saraj Singh, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Jammu’s Poonch area, was cremated with military honours today in his native village Akhtiyarpur Dhaukal. Thousands of people, including Uttar Pradesh Finance, Parliamentary Affairs and Medical Education Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna and military officers, reached and bid farewell to the martyr Saraj Singh with tearful eyes.

Along with this, a cheque of Rs 50 lakh was handed over to the family members as financial assistance.

Suresh Kumar Khanna, while saluting the valor of Saraj Singh, said that the supreme sacrifice of Saraj Singh, who laid down his life to protect the nation, will always be remembered. Son of mother India has illuminated the name of the country and the state as well as the district Shahjahanpur, but it is a matter of regret that the family’s beloved has gone.

He saluted martyred soldier who had sacrificed his life for the country. He expressed his condolences to the family members of Saraj Singh and consoled the family members in this hour of mourning.

Meanwhile, Suresh Kumar Khanna handed over a cheque of Rs 35 lakh to the wife of martyr Saraj Singh on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government and Rs 15 lakh to his mother for financial assistance amounting to a total of Rs 50 lakh.

On behalf of the state government, a member of the family of the martyr Saraj Singh also announced a government job and naming a road after the martyr.
