Gorakhpur, June 22: In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a man was handed seventy traffic challans in one and a half years. His car, which is worth Rs 85,000, has so far racked up a total fine of Rs 70,500. This man already has 33 challans this year and 37 from previous year.

Traffic cops have produced a list of the top 10 vehicles in the city with the most citations.

In addition, nine additional people are on the list of habitual defaulters, some of whom have been challaned more than 50 times.

For the sake of security, the Gorakhpur police and administration has put traffic cameras at crossings. These cameras record the licence plates of cars that break traffic signal laws, resulting in the automated issue of challans.

Notices are being prepared to be issued to these persons in response. Otherwise, their cars will be taken and returned only when they have paid the penalty.
