Lucknow, 13 December: Maharaja Bijli Pasi Fort, which is one of the important places in the historical sites of Uttar Pradesh, is going to be rejuvenated very soon.

The tourism department is going to develop the fort from the point of view of tourists visiting the fort in Lucknow. The plan for the development of the fort has taken a final shape.

Maharaja Bijli Pasi had built a huge fort in Lucknow, which has been recognized as a historical site to this day.

The responsibility of maintaining the fort was once in the hands of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), but on increasing complaints of neglect in the maintenance of the fort, the Shiromani Maharaja Bijli Passi Samiti was formed and given the responsibility of maintenance of the fort.

Former Member of Parliament (MP) Purnima Singh had a meeting with the Department of Tourism as the chairman of the committee.

In this meeting, departmental help was sought for beautification and cleanliness of the fort. Then the proposal regarding the development of the fort was sent by the tourism department to the government. Later, from the government level, the budget was also allocated under Pro Poor Tourism.

Since the closure of the Bijli Pasi fort during the lockdown, traffic routes including the main gate of the fort are still closed, which will open over time.

However, the tourism department is planning to increase the facilities for tourists in the fort and install some additional resources.

In this regard, the Regional Tourism Minister of Lucknow Anupam Shrivastava told  that the development of the Bijli Pasi fort is included in the upcoming plan of the tourism department.

He informed that when tourists make a map to visit historical places in Lucknow, an important site of Bijli Pasi fort comes in it. It has also been mentioned in meetings with departmental officers. Tourists have been chalked out for seating arrangement in the Bijli Pasi fort, tea-coffee system, toilet arrangement, beautification by electrification, repair of the fort, smooth path and beautification of tree plants within the fort. Soon these works will be implemented in the fort.

It is noteworthy that Maharaja Bijli Pasi Fort is a very beautiful part of Lucknow in terms of tourism. This fort is located at some distance from Ashiana intersection. Tourists who are fond of seeing historical sites can visit here. It has also been a favourite place of tourism for the locals.

It is worth mentioning that Maharaja Bijli Pasi was the king of the Bijnor stronghold of Lucknow, the state which was established on a large tract of Awadh at the end of 12th century.

According to government records, there were 12 forts in Oudh. One of the same forts is located in Lucknow by the name of Maharaja Bijli Passi.
