UP acquired 2.25L metric tons of paddy & 1.5L metric tonnes of coarse grains

Lucknow, 16 Nov: With the aim of providing remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce, the Uttar Pradesh government is purchasing paddy at the fixed rate of minimum support price of common paddy at Rs 2183 per quintal and paddy grade-A at Rs 2203 per quintal in the Kharif purchasing year 2023-24. 1.06 lakh metric tonnes of coarse grains have been purchased.

So far 2.35 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased from farmers through various paddy purchasing centres. So far, Rs 425.89 crore has been paid under this scheme, benefiting about 38014 farmers. About 14614 metric tons were purchased on Thursday. The Uttar Pradesh government has so far purchased more than 106901.27 metric tons of coarse grains under the price support scheme in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24 with the aim of providing remunerative prices to the farmers for their produce.

Under this scheme, 100031.32 metric tons of millet, 4040.55 metric tons of maize and 2829.40 metric tons of sorghum have been purchased.

According to the information given by the Food and Logistics Department, this year the support price is millet at the fixed rate of Rs 2500 per quintal, maize at the rate of Rs 2090 per quintal, hybrid jowar at the rate of Rs 3180 per quintal and Jowar Maldandi is being procured at the rate of Rs 3225 per quintal.
