If the expansion proposal is approved, NCC will become an organisation with 20 lakh cadets.

Expected to meet the increasing demand of NCCs in educational institutions across the country.

New Delhi, March 13: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday approved the expansion proposal of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) with the recruitment of three lakh cadets. This expansion is expected to meet the growing demand for NCC in educational institutions across the country. With this approval, NCC will now have a sanctioned strength of 20 lakh cadets, making it the largest uniformed youth organization in the world.

NCC was formed in 1948 with only 20,000 cadets. According to the National Education Policy 2020, NCC has been introduced as an optional subject. That is why the proposal for expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) with the recruitment of three lakh cadets has been approved. This expansion of NCC will be a big step towards fulfilling the aspirations of the youth to play an important role as the future leaders of the country. Recruitment will be done in all states and union territories as per their ratio, which will reduce the waiting list of educational institutions aspiring for NCC.

According to the ministry, this expansion plan includes the establishment of four new group headquarters and two new NCC units. An important aspect of this expansion plan is that it is proposed to hire ex-servicemen as NCC trainers, taking advantage of their skills and long experience. This initiative will ensure quality training to NCC cadets and create employment opportunities for them. NCC aims to create an environment where youth contribute meaningfully to nation-building. This initiative will expand the base of patriotic youth who will contribute to achieving the goal of ‘Developed India’.
