Those celebrated Pakistan’s victory in ICC T-20 WC will be punished under sedition charges, confirms UP Govt Spokesperson

Lucknow, October 27: Action has started in Uttar Pradesh against those cheered Pakistan’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup match on Sunday at the International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Meanwhile, cases have been registered in Agra, Bareilly, Badaun and Sitapur in UP. Two people have also been arrested while taking three people into custody.

A state government spokesperson said on Wednesday that action would be taken under sedition charges against those elements celebrated Pakistan’s victory.

He informed that three named cases have been registered under IT Act in Jagdishpura police station of Agra district. Police are interrogating three people by taking them into custody. They are accused of raising anti-national slogans in support of Pakistan on India’s defeat in the ICC T20 World Cup match.

Similarly, a case has been registered in Bareilly Izzatnagar police station of the district. According to the police, the accused put a status on his mobile number WhatsApp status supporting Pakistan.

In the same police station area, an accused on the WhatsApp status of his mobile, while supporting the Pakistan player, wrote abusive words to the respected team of India.

However, an accused has been arrested in Faizganj Behta police station of Badaun district. He uploaded a photo of Pakistan’s flag in his Facebook account and posted a post in support of Pakistan. Rampur Mathura police of district Sitapur arrested one accused. He is accused of using WhatsApp status in support of Pakistan.
