Tamilisai Soundararajan returns to active politics, joins BJP

New Delhi, March 20: Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan rejoined the BJP on Wednesday. Tamilisai Soundararajan joined the BJP in the presence of Tamil Nadu BJP state president K Annamalai and G Kishan Reddy during a program organized in Chennai. She had resigned from the post of Governor of Telangana two days ago.

After joining BJP, Tamilisai Soundararajan said that she wanted to contest elections and has also informed the party about this. Expressing her happiness of joining the party, she said that today is a day of difficult decisions and happy decisions. Lotus will bloom in Tamil Nadu. For this, she will work hard day and night.

Tamilisai, 62, was sworn in as the second Governor of Telangana in November 2019. Along with the post of Governor of Telangana, she was also given the additional charge of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in February 2021. It is believed that BJP can field Tamilisai from the only Lok Sabha seat of Puducherry. At present this seat is with the Congress.
