Ayodhya, April 20: There is widespread outrage among saints and mahants of Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh over the mob-lynching of three people including two ‘Sadhus’ who belonged to’ Juna Akhara’ on April 16 in Palghar district of Maharashtra which took place around 150 kms away from Mumbai.

Angry saints have demanded death penalty for the culprits and the President’s rule in the state from the central government.

Mahant Kanhaiya Das, president of the Ayodhya Sant Samiti in Ayodhya said that so far there was a mention of killing of saints in the era of demons. But today this murder has been done before the Maharashtra government and their administration. It is the most tarnished and dark chapter of independent India.

We demand from the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for death penalty for those who brutally murdered two saints and their driver in the presence of the police.

“During this incident, the police of Maharashtra government instead of saving the lives of the saints released them to the mob. There can be nothing more tarnished then the killing of three people in front of the police,” added Das.

At the same time, he warned the Maharashtra government that if the government delays in initiating the procedure of action against the accused, the saints will not tolerate the killing of their Sadhus without any reason and can agitate anytime.

Accused police personnel should also be sued

The chief priest of the Ramjanmabhoomi complex, Acharya Satyendra Das said that the way the angry mob carrying rods and weapons surrounded their vehicles and lynched them. This is a very serious crime. We demand from the central government to take cognizance of the incident and those who have committed murder should be hanged. These are criminals, if they are not get punished today, then the saints will continue to be their pray.

He said that the police of Maharashtra Government were also present on the spot during this incident. But instead of giving protection to the saints, they supported the murderers. Therefore, that policeman is also guilty and action should be taken against them by filing a murder case.

Fasting will be observed for justice for slain saints

Jairam Das of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Mahant of Shriram Ashram said that the manner in which the ruthless killing of saints has been done under the supervision of the police administration is highly condemnable. The way Maharashtra government Uddhav Thackeray has come out with the statement that they were beaten to death by the mob in the name of a child thief, he strongly condemned it and oppose it.

“Uddhav Thackeray will never be allowed to come to Ayodhya to pay obeisance to Ramlala if the Maharashtra government does not punish the culprits in this case,” warned das.

Acharya Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Paramhansacharya alias Mahant Paramhansa Das, who came to the limelight by fasting for the construction of Ram temple said that this inhuman incident has embarrassed humanity. He demanded to the President to impose President’s rule in Maharashtra and give severe punishment to the culprits, otherwise he will start a fast unto death from April 24 for justice of the saints.

Ram Kachehari, Chairman of Saryu Aarti Samiti and Mahant Shashi Kant Das of the Char Dham Temple both asked to Uddhav Thackeray, where is your Hindutva?  You are a blot in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray. This is the land of Maharashtra where many great people like Shivaji, Swami Samarth Namdev Ji were born. This type of act is shameful. Such criminals should get severe punishment.

VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma has also strongly condemned the killing of saints.

Hanumangarhi priest Mahant Raju Das has started a sit-in from Monday for five days to get the policemen punished.
