Varanasi, 07 October: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday gifted three oxygen plants to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi, ahead of the big Hindu festivals Dussehra and Deepawali.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the three oxygen plants made out of PM Cares Fund through virtual medium from AIIMS Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

1000-1000 LPM capacity oxygen plant has been installed at Sir Sunderlal Chikitsalaya, Trauma Center and District Women’s Hospital at Kabirchaura of BHU Institute of Medical Sciences.

The grand program organized in AIIMS Rishikesh was also telecast live in Varanasi, in which Medical Superintendent Prof KK Gupta and Acharya in-charge of Trauma Center Prof Saurabh Singh was present along with other medical personnel.

The newly constructed pH plant at Sir Sunderlal Hospital and Trauma Center has a capacity of 1000 liters per minute. It has been jointly constructed by NHAI and DRDO.

It is noteworthy that during the first wave of Corona epidemic, the capacity of oxygen gas in BHU Hospital was only 10 tonnes, which was increased to 30 tonnes in October 2020. During the second wave of the Corona epidemic, there was a shortage of oxygen in various cities of the country, but there was never a shortage of oxygen in BHU.

Apart from this, two additional oxygen plants have been set up at Trauma Center and SS Hospital. This plant is being prepared from natural gas.
