Delhi, 7 February: Actor Poonam Pandey’s recent involvement in spreading awareness about cervical cancer has caused controversy and confusion.

The union health ministry officials have clarified that the actor is not being considered as the brand ambassador for their national campaign. Earlier this month, Pandey made headlines by announcing her “death” from the disease, which was later revealed to be a publicity stunt to raise awareness about cervical cancer.

The 32-year-old has since released a video on her Instagram page, urging women to educate themselves about the disease and take preventive measures such as getting the HPV vaccine and regular screenings. The government, on its part, has also taken steps to prevent cervical cancer by encouraging vaccination for girls aged 9-14 years.

The union health ministry is closely monitoring the incidence of cervical cancer in the country and has recommended the introduction of the HPV vaccine in universal immunization. Together, both the government and Pandey are working towards raising awareness about cervical cancer and reducing its impact on women’s lives.
