Lucknow, January 18: Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police(DGP) Omprakash Singh is retiring on January 31. Earlier there was talk of extending the service for three months of him, but now the government has sent some names of the senior police officers to the central government for the post of new DGP. After this, the market of discussions about the new head of UP Police has become hot.

OP Singh, a 1983 batch IPS officer, assumed the post of DGP of Uttar Pradesh on December 31, 2017. He is now retiring on 31, January 2019. The discussion was that he could get a three-month extension of service, but the state government has sent some names to the central government for the new DGP.

According to sources, more than six names are included in the race for the new police chief of the state. In this, the name of Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, a 1985 batch IPS officer of the Director of Vigilance Establishment as seniority is going on top. He is considered to be a clean image officer. He has served in the CBI for 14 years and will retire in June 2021.

The name of Arun Kumar, a 1985 batch IPS officer, who is on a central deputation, is also included in the list. Earlier, Arun Kumar was posted as ADG Law and Order in the SP government. He was ousted after the Muzaffarnagar riots. Currently he is posted in the post of DG RPF.

Apart from this, the name of 1987 batch IPS officer Rajendra Pal Singh is also included in the discussions. He is posted as DG EOW and also holds charge of SIT. He will retire on February 2023.

The name of 1988 batch IPS officer RK Vishwakarma is also discussed. He is currently posted on the DG of Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. Apart from these, DG Jail Anand Kumar is also in the race. He is a 1988 batch IPS officer. He was ADG Law and Order in this government. At this time, he has also been given additional charge of DG Home Guard. The market for discussions on his name is also hot.

OP Singh may become new Chief Information Commissioner !

The current Chief Information Commissioner Javed Usmani is retiring on 16 February 2020. According to sources, OP Singh can be made the Chief Information Commissioner after retiring from the post of Director General of Police. There are about 50 applications in the Administrative Reforms Department for the post of Chief Information Commissioner, including the name of the current Director General of Police OP Singh.
