NHRC sends notice to Uttar Pradesh’s big brass

Lucknow, February 10: On the complaint of All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Vadra and other Congress leaders, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent to notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary (CS) and Director General of Police (DGP) on the police-violence and harassment during the peaceful-democratic stir against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), the above information was given by the Congress state president Ajay Kumar Lallu on Monday.

Ajay Kumar Lallu told that the National NHRC  has summoned the CS Rajendra Kumar Tiwari and DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi of Uttar Pradesh and sought reply within six weeks. The National Human Rights Commission has sent a letter to the Congress General Secretary informing her that action is being taken on her complaint.

He said that the police have brutally suppressed the movement going on in a peaceful manner in Bilariaganj in Azamgarh. On February 12, General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will reach Azamgarh and meet the victims.
