NEG advises states and UTs not to purchase vaccine

The committee constituted on vaccine management advised the states-do not decide on vaccine purchase yourself.

First meeting of National Expert Group held.

New Delhi, August 12: The first meeting of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Management of corona was held on Wednesday.

The meeting was chaired by VK Paul, Member of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog.

Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan was also present in this meeting.

The expert group advised all the states and union territories not to take any steps for the purchase of the vaccine themselves.

In this meeting, it was considered to use digital means to strengthen the procurement, management and distribution system of the vaccine.

Comprehensive criteria for the selection of vaccines in the country were discussed and sought input from the Standing Technical Sub-Committee of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI).

The expert group discussed various options for the financial resources required for the purchase of the Corona vaccine. The delivery platform, cold chain and infrastructure for the vaccination of Corona were also discussed.

The expert group discussed the potential of domestic vaccine production in the country and discussed with which country to get the vaccine from.
