New Delhi, March 28: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Prime Minister’s residence situated at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.

During this, both of them discussed various issues including Artificial Intelligence (AI) to digital public infrastructure and efforts to tackle climate change. The Prime Minister told Gates how technology has revolutionized agriculture, education, healthcare and many other sectors in India.

A promotional teaser of this conversation was released on Thursday. In the teaser, Bill Gates explains how Indians are not only adopting technology but are actually leading the way. โ€œOne of the themes that India brings up is that technology should be for everyone,โ€ Gates said.

Referring to AI, Prime Minister Modi said that a child born in India speaks ‘I’ (mother) and also speaks ‘AI’. Modi also encouraged Gates to take selfies using the photo booth on the PM’s NaMo app. When Bill Gates took a selfie on the NaMo app on the request of the Prime Minister, he was surprised to see the response of the app. He said that this is amazing.

Meanwhile, in his conversation with Bill Gates, Prime Minister Modi also talked about how his government is bringing technology to improve the lives of women. He said that women who did not know how to ride a bicycle are becoming drone pilots today. The NaMo Drone Didi initiative is an integral part of the Prime Minister’s vision to promote economic empowerment and financial autonomy among women, especially in rural areas.

India’s climate mitigation initiatives were also mentioned in the discussion. Prime Minister Modi showed Gates the jacket he was wearing, which was made of recycled material.
