Lucknow Police cyber cell arrests man for hacking, blackmailing women

Lucknow, 27 January: The cyber crime cell of the Lucknow Police on Wednesday arrested a criminal who used to blackmail girls in the name of making objectionable photos and to circulate on various social media platforms by hacking into their accounts.

Meanwhile, personal, objectionable videos, photos and chats of 400 girls have been found from the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) said that the cyber cell under the leadership of PGI police station in-charge Ramesh Chandra Pandey has arrested Vineet Mishra, a resident of Masjidganj Chowk in Shahjahapur district.

โ€œThe accused, on inquiry, confessed that he had acquired knowledge to access to the social media and gallery of others by watching on YouTube. When he learned this, he generated a link on the Internet, sending the generated link to WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, prompting the girls to click on the link, stating that their objectionable photo was present on that link. As soon as the girls opened this link, they would gain access to their media gallery. After this he used to blackmail them. The police have registered the case and sent the accused to jail,โ€ DCP Crime informed.

Quick Alert issued

The cybercrime cell has issued a quick alert regarding the crime. It said that if you receive any unknown link through any social media like Messenger, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram etc. then do not click on it nor your mail id, social media id and password on the link on it Do not enter any other personal information.
