Lucknow, 27 March: On the last day of the first phase of nomination in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the factionalism of the Samajwadi Party (SP) came to the fore in Rampur and Moradabad Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav kept giving instructions from Lucknow, while on the other hand, workers in the Lok Sabha constituency burnt the effigies of those who were going to be candidates. There was a lot of speculation about the Lok Sabha seat in Rampur and senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan tried to get his point across. Azam Khan had already urged Akhilesh Yadav to contest the Lok Sabha elections. When his views were not heard, Azam put forward a name on his behalf. While deleting the name of Azam Khan, another name was put forward from the state office of Samajwadi Party in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, the workers of Rampur took a rebellious tone. To control the situation that worsened due to the anger of SP workers, party general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav was sent to Sitapur jail for talks with Azam Khan whereas Akhilesh Yadav gave the party symbol to Mohibullah Nadvi who came from New Delhi for nomination for Rampur Lok Sabha seat. In Moradabad, Ruchi Veera filed nomination and distributed sweets among the Samajwadi Party workers. After which, the party workers belonging to the big-faced leader’s group started heckling behind candidate Ruchi Veera.

They also protested against Ruchi Veera by burning her effigy at two places in the market. As soon as the factionalism in the Samajwadi Party came to the fore on the last day of the first phase of nomination in the Lok Sabha elections, the top leaders have started the work of convincing the factions.
