Lok Sabha polls 2024: Dharmendra Yadav booked over poll code violation

Azamgarh, 24 March: A charge has been filed against Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha candidate Dharmendra Yadav for allegedly violating the model code of conduct for elections in Azamgarh district, a police officer said on Sunday.

On March 22, when traveling in the district’s Mehnagar assembly constituency, Yadav’s convoy had more cars than the Election Commission allowed, according to the official. Superintendent of Police (city) Shailendra Lal stated that with the introduction of the Model Code of Conduct, no more than ten cars may be used in a candidate convoy, according to Election Commission standards.

Yadav’s convoy had more than 42 cars, he added, and a case was filed against him at the Mehnagar police station on March 22.
