Leaders of many countries expressed grief over the Odisha train accident

New Delhi, 03 June: Leaders of many countries in the world have expressed deep condolences for the horrific train accident in Balasore, Odisha, and expressed solidarity with the people of India.

In a condolence message sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that he was deeply saddened by the news of the loss of precious lives and injuries in the train accident in the state of Odisha.

On behalf of the Government of Japan and its people, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and to their bereaved families. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a tweet message, “Deeply saddened by the death of hundreds of people in a train accident in India. I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ tweeted, “‘Saddened by the death of dozens of people in a train accident in Odisha, India, today. I express my deepest condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the government, and the bereaved families in this hour of grief.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted, “The images and reports of the train accident in Odisha, India, break my heart. I am sending my deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. Canadians stand with the people of India during this difficult time.”

UN General Assembly President Sabah Korosi also expressed his deep condolences to the families of the tragic train accident. Apart from this, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lotay Tshering, the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Ali Sabri, the Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, also expressed condolences on the train tragedy. Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen also expressed her heartfelt condolences to the victims.

It is noteworthy that the Coromandel Express and Sir M Visvesvaraya Howrah Superfast Express met with an accident near Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district of Odisha at around 7 p.m. on Friday. According to the railway, as of the time of writing this news, 261 passengers had died in this accident, while 650 were seriously injured.
