Kisan leaders under house arrest before ‘chakka jam’ in UP

Agra, 06 February: The Uttar Pradesh Police has kept many farmers leaders of the district under house arrest on Friday midnight. Notice of house arrest has been delivered to their homes.

The administration has asked the public not to gather anywhere, citing the implementation of Section 144 in the district.

United Kisan Morcha and farmer leader Rakesh Tikait had called on the farmers for road blockade or โ€˜chakka jamโ€™ on February 6 across the country. But later the farmers changed the strategy of jamming in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi etc.

He called upon the farmers that on February 6, the farmers gathered in large numbers in their respective districts and reached the District Magistrate office and hand over the memorandum to the District Magistrate against the new agricultural bills to the President.

The police and district administration have lately arrested farmer leaders Shyam Singh Chahar, Sombir Yadav, Brijmohan Singh Sisodia, Pawan Samadhiya, among others, citing the implementation of Section 144 in the district.
