Kedarnath Temple’s doors to open on Monday, no devotees allowed amid Covid curfew

Dehradun, 16 May: Situated in the Himalayan region, the doors of Baba Kedarnath Dham will open at 5 am on Monday. On the eve of the opening of the doors, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat greeted the devotees and urged people to offer prayers at their homes.

On Sunday, Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that all the preparations for the opening of the doors of the dham have been completed. Devasthanam Boards and temple committees are offering the first puja for public welfare in all the four dhams on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, the Yamunotri Dham doors opened on May 14 and the Gangotri Dham doors opened on May 15. Kedarnath Bhagwan’s Panchmukhi Doli has reached Kedarnath Dham on Saturday evening. The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open at 5 am on Monday. After this, the doors of Badrinath Dham will open on May 18 at 4.15 am.

Tourism Minister Maharaj said that on Sunday, the throne of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, Rawal Ishwari Prasad Namboodri from Shri Narsingh Temple, reached Yogdhyan Badri Temple Pandukeshwar. On Monday evening, along with Uddhavji and Shri Kubera, the throne of Adi Guru Shankaracharya will reach Badrinath Dham.

He has clarified that Chardham Yatra has been temporarily postponed in view of Corona. In this period, worship will be done with regular rules. Only people associated with the โ€˜pujapathโ€™ are to be allowed to visit the dhams. All of them must also follow the Corona Rescue Standards.

 Media in-charge of Devasthanam Board, Harish Gaur said that preparations for the opening of the doors at Badrinath Dham and Kedarnath Dham have been completed. Arrangements have been made for sanitation, cleanliness, supply of electricity and water, accommodation of Rawal, priests, Vedpathis. It is mandatory for everyone to wear masks along with physical distance and undergo thermal screening.

BD Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer of Devasthanam Board has also reached Kedarnath Dham. Ravinath Raman, the Garhwal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Management Board, has ordered to ensure adherence to the Covid Guideline on the occasion of the opening of the doors of Chardham.
