Varanasi, 9 Dec: On December 13, the millennium-old city of Kashi will host a great celebration of religious and cultural events to commemorate the first anniversary of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, which was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13 last year. As part of the festivities, the temple administration will host a variety of cultural and religious events, including havan-puja and lectures from early morning until late at night. Sunil Verma, the temple’s chief executive officer, stated that in addition to Sadhus, several luminaries from Kashi will attend the occasion. The temple grounds will resonate with Vedic hymns in the morning and bhajans in the evening.

“A symposium on the ‘Cultural and Spiritual Impact of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham’ will be organised by Kashi Vishwanath Nyas Parishad,” stated the CEO. Anuradha Paudwal, a well-known vocalist, will sing bhajans at Mandir Chowk. The event will be open to the public.”

The temple grounds, which were formerly about 3000 square feet in size, have grown to include a wide area of around 5 lakh square feet as a result of the expansion. PM Modi’s dream project was the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor. One of the corridor’s goals was to make it easier for pilgrims to go to the temple, which had previously been hampered by packed streets and messy passage from the Ganga ghats to the shrine.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, the PM himself watched the project’s development through video conferencing, and it was finished in record time. His concept also included ensuring that existing heritage structures were maintained when the homes obstructing the corridor were demolished. During the destruction, more than 40 ancient temples that had been swallowed throughout the years in the multi-story structures along the road were unearthed.
