J&K: Terrorist from Pakistan killed in Kupwara

Kupwara, 07 June: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Chakras Kandi area of โ€‹โ€‹Kupwara district on Tuesday morning. One of them is a citizen of Pakistan. Both are affiliated to the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Their bodies, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot.

According to the police, three terrorists managed to escape from the spot. The operation is underway to nab them.

According to IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, one terrorist killed in the encounter has been identified as Tufail of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba. He is a resident of Pakistan. Search is on for other terrorists.

On Tuesday morning, a team of police, army and CRPF personnel started a search operation by cordoning off the entire area on strong tip-off about the hideouts of terrorists in the Chaktraas area of โ€‹โ€‹the district.

During this, the hiding terrorists started firing after seeing the security forces approaching. After that the encounter started. During the encounter, the security forces killed two terrorists including a Pakistani terrorist of Lashkar. The identity of the second terrorist killed is yet to be ascertained.
