High Court adjourns Aryan Khan’s drug case hearing till tomorrow

Mumbai, 26 October: Film actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, his friends Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha could not get bail in the cruise drug party case in the High Court on Tuesday. The bail hearing will be held again on Wednesday.

The hearing on the bail plea of โ€‹โ€‹the three accused including Aryan Khan was held on Tuesday before Judge Nitin Sambre.

Advocate Anil Singh, appearing for NCB, said that the matter is related to international drug smuggling. If the bail is granted to the accused, the investigation of the case will be affected and the accused are also likely to abscond abroad. For this reason the bail application should be dismissed.

On behalf of Aryan Khan, a team of eminent Supreme Court lawyers Mukul Rohatgi, Satish Mane Shinde, Amit Desai etc. appeared in the High Court.

Mukul Rohatgi said that drug was not found with Aryan Khan and his medical examination has not been done. Also, Aryan Khan has not been involved in buying, selling, using drugs. However, 6 grams of drug was recovered from Aryan Khanโ€™s accomplice Arbaaz Merchant but how can someone be made an accused by getting drugs in shoes. How Aryan Khan can be made accused for the drug found in Arbaaz’s shoes.

Mukul Rohatgi said that earlier the NCB did not register a case against many people for the recovery of large quantity of drugs and left them on the second day.

He said that there is a provision of punishment up to one year only for drug seizure up to six grams and there is also a provision to send such accused to correctional homes by law, but Aryan Khan and other children have been kept in jail like any hardcore criminal.

Rohatgi said that they are not accusing any NCB official nor talking with reference to witnesses, these accused should be granted bail.

After this, Judge Nitin Sambre adjourned the hearing of the matter till Wednesday. The hearing of the matter will start at 2.30 pm on Wednesday.
