UP: HDFC Bank to set up 4 oxygen plants in the state

Lucknow, August 18: HDFC Bank has announced setting up of four oxygen plants at Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Bhadohi and Lucknow as part of its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program Parivartan.

HDFC Branch Banking Head Akhilesh Kumar Roy led a team to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and inform him about the various operations of the bank including the setting up of oxygen plant as part of the transformation in the state. These oxygen plants will make hospitals self-reliant in handling critical cases requiring oxygen support and reduce their dependence on cryogenic tankers to source oxygen from remote locations. The bank invested Rs 3 crore to set up the plants in these four main cities of the state.

Roy said that HDFC Bank is committed to nation building. The bank launched this campaign to support the government and the Covid Warriors during the pandemic.

He said that the bank has anticipated the difficulties of the people in this challenging time, hence the bank has helped all sections of the society under its transformation programme. Apart from providing scholarships to students affected by COVID and training youth, farmers and women in various fields, the bank also contributed to strengthen Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s effort to prepare himself for the third wave of COVID-19.

Parivartan works for the behavioural development of the society by supporting campaigns focused on rural development, education enhancement, skill training and livelihood extension, health and hygiene and financial literacy and inclusion.

Changes in 2020-21 benefitted 1.26 crore people of Uttar Pradesh. The Bank worked by reaching out to 156 villages in 18 districts – Barabanki, Firozabad, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Faizabad, Gonda, Sitapur, Sultanpur, Pilibhit, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Varanasi, Fatehpur, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Lalitpur, Pratapgarh and Bahraich.

The purpose of Parivartan is to connect the economically and socially weaker groups in the country with the main stream through growth, development and empowerment. HDFC Bank invested Rs 634.91 crore in the country through Parivartan and was one of the largest institutions to spend under CSR in the country in 2020-21. It was 18.5 percent more this year than last year.
