Harsh Vardhan orders an inquiry into journalist suicide in AIIMS

New Delhi, July 06: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday expressed grief over the death of journalist Tarun Sisodia and ordered an inquiry into his suicide in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Tarun Sisodia, who covered health beat for a newspaper, was infected with coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at AIIMS.

Meanwhile, news came that he had committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of AIIMS.

Health Minister Harshvardhan tweeted that he is deeply saddened by the death of young journalist Sisodia. This is an unfortunate one. He has no words to express his grief. Pray to God to give his wife and children the strength to bear this sorrow.

In another tweet, he said that the AIIMS director has been ordered to conduct an official inquiry into the matter immediately after which a high level committee has been formed which will submit its report in 48 hours.

The investigation committee consists of Professor Padma, head of the Neuroscience Center, Chairman of the Department of Psychology Professor RK Chadha, Dr Panda deputy director of the administrative department and Dr U Singh doctor of medicine and rehabilitation.

Vardhan has also expressed grief to the journalist community that they must have been saddened by the sudden death of one of his companion.
