GST returns up by 50% amid economic slowdown, 18.27 lakh returns filed in November: CBIC

New Delhi, 22 November: There is good news for the Modi government on the economy front. Amid the economic slowdown, Goods and Services Tax( GST) return has gone up by 50% in the month of November. According to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), the GSTR 3B filing has increased by 50 per cent in the month of November as compared to the month of October.

According to CBIC, a total of 18.27 lakh GST returns have been filed in the month of November as compared to 12.20 lakh GST returns in the month of October. GST return has increased by 9.4% over November last year. CBIC has said in a statement issued here that there has been proper improvement in tax compliance by taxpayers. CBIC says that GSTN return filing system is working better as expected.

It is worth mentioning that recently the government had said that strict action is being planned to not fill the Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns. Under this, the registration of the person who missed the return twice in a row will be canceled.
