Lucknow, October 14: Bharatiya Kisan Manch (BKM) has welcomed the announcement of huge subsidy by the Central Government on Phosphatic and Potash fertilizers.

The Kisan Manch has termed the fertilizer subsidy as the government’s gift to the farmers before the Rabi crop.

The BKM President Devendra Tiwari said in a statement issued on Thursday that this would reduce the cost of agricultural produce and increase production.

He said that the Modi government has once again proved that their every step is in the interest of the farmers through fertilizer subsidy.

Tiwari said that farmers will get direct benefit of fertilizer subsidy in the cost of Rabi crop. With this, farmers will be able to get fertilizer easily during Rabi season at subsidized prices of fertilizers. Continuing with the existing subsidy level and DAP and the three highest consumption NPK grades, the agriculture sector will benefit immensely. Farmers are happy and excited by this move of Modi government. In the coming times, its major impact will be visible on the increase and quality of agricultural production.

Significantly, the government has announced a subsidy of Rs 28,655 crore on phosphatic and potash fertilizers on Tuesday. With this, farmers will be able to get it at a cheaper price during the Rabi sowing season.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the subsidy rates for the period from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. With this, where farmers will get cheap fertilizers, the production will also be better.

Through subsidies, the government intends to increase the income of farmers along with agricultural production.
