Frustrated Dragon launches 11 ballistic missiles near Taiwan

Beijing/ Taipei, 04 August: Frustrated by the visit of the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan, China fired 11 ballistic missiles in sea near Taiwan borders. The Chinese People?s Liberation Army action is stated to be in response to Pelosi’s visit, defying threats by China.

China fired its largest missiles Dongfeng ballistic missiles, a day after Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, which China considers to be its own territory.

Taiwan Defense Ministry Spokesperson Sun Li-fang stated that the missiles were fired from land between 1.56 pm and 4 pm (local time) on Thursday. The Chinese move was stated to be provocative and it never used these missiles earlier. Taiwan Defense Ministry claimed. Taiwan has strengthened its guard around the Chinese coastline.

Meanwhile, China has cancelled international meet with Japan. The meet was cancelled following statement by G-7 nations against the Chinese stand on Pelosi’s visit.

Despite threats by China Pelosi successfully completed the Taiwan visit on Tuesday and Wednesday. China launched 11 missiles near Taiwan in the sea virtually to create a threat on the nation, which China considers to be its own territory.

Taiwan Defense Ministry has called the missile test fires a futile exercise aimed at weakening peace in the region.

The Ministry stated that missiles were launched in East and South-West regions of Taiwan. Statements in support of Taiwan from across the world frustrated China.

The foreign ministers of G-7 nations, the US, UK, Germany, France, Canada and Japan has condemned China?s stand on Taiwan. The G-7 nations have appealed to sort out the issues between China and Taiwan amicably. China has considered this statement against it and has canceled meeting of Foreign Minister of Japan
