Varanasi, 4 August: On the basis of clues provided by Vishnu Mishra, the son of jailed muscleman politician and former MLA Vijay Mishra, STF personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, 9mm pistol, several magazines, and over 375 live cartridges from his petrol pump in Gopiganj area of โ€‹โ€‹Bhadohi district on Thursday.

Vishnu was apprehended by STF in Pune and taken to Bhadohi on July 28. Bhadohi SP Dr Anil Kumar stated that the STF’s Varanasi field unit had taken Vishnu into police custody remand on Thursday. Cops searched his petrol pump in Gopiganj area based on the results of interrogation during police custody detention.

“One AK-47 rifle, four magazines, and 375 live cartridges, one 9mm pistol, and its nine live cartridges were confiscated from the petrol pump,” he added during the operation.

Vishnu eluded the police for over two years until being apprehended in Pune on July 24, for his role in property snatching, threatening, and gang rape crimes filed in 2020. Vishnu had been hiding in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Goa, and other places before settling in an Oxygen Valley cooperative society flat in Pune, the police claimed, using a Panama-based VPN instead of mobile phones to dodge the cops.
