Five Cooperative Sugar Mills of UP selected for National Efficiency Award

Meerut, 24 March: Five cooperative sugar mills of Uttar Pradesh have been selected for the National Efficiency Award. These include the Farmers Cooperative Sugar Mill of Bijnor in western Uttar Pradesh, the Ramala Sugar Mill of Baghpat.

Meerut Division Deputy Sugarcane Commissioner Rajesh Mishra said that the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath is engaged in the task of strengthening the cooperative sugar industry. The condition of cooperative sugar mills was improved and modernized on the instructions of the state’s sugarcane minister Suresh Rana.

Rajesh Mishra further told that this has improved the efficiency of cooperative sugar mills and has done well at the national level. Five cooperative sugar mills of the state have been selected for the National Efficiency Award by the National Cooperative Sugar Factory Association Limited under the direction of Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Development of the state.

“At present, 24 cooperative sugar mills operate in Uttar Pradesh and 161 in the entire country. For the first time, five sugar mills of the state have received this award for the year 2019-20,” he added.

Sugarcane and sugar commissioner Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that efforts are constantly being made to increase the efficiency and improve the functioning of cooperative sugar mills from the government level. Due to these efforts, the efficiency of the sugar mill has improved. For the first time farmer cooperative sugar mill Puwan Shahjahanpur has been selected for National Sugar Award for maximum sugar quay, Tilhar Shahjahanpur sugar mill for sugarcane development, Sathiawan and Azamgarh sugar mill for technical efficiency and Ramala Baghpat sugar mill for maximum sugarcane crushing. Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mill Sneh Road Bijnor was selected for the best cooperative sugar mill among all 161 cooperative sugar mills in the country.

He said that the crushing capacity of Ramala Baghpat sugar mill was increased from 2750 TCD to 5000 TCD and 27 MW Cogen plant was set up. After setting up these projects, for the first time during the crushing season 2019-20, the Ramala Baghpat sugar mill crushed 83 lakh quintals of sugarcane and got the distinction of being selected for the National Efficiency Award.

“Bijnor sugar mill has the distinction of being selected for the best cooperative sugar mill of the country for three consecutive years. The awards will be presented in Delhi,” he told.
