Do not operate new buses for Haridwar ‘Kumbh’ due to Corona, Uttarakhand govt urges to UP govt

Lucknow, 07 February: To prevent the spread of highly contagious pathogen coronavirus disease in the โ€˜Kumbh Melaโ€™ to be held in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand government has urged the Uttar Pradesh government not to operate new buses for Kumbh during the fair period.

In this regard, the Uttarakhand government has sent a letter requesting that thermal screening be done before the visit of the pilgrims and those who do not have a medical certificate and negative report of the Covid test, should not be allowed to travel.

Kumbh Mela is proposed to be held in Haridwar from February 27 to April 30 2021. Kumbh Mela is an event of religious faith in which large numbers of people reach. Therefore, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has also been issued by the Government of India (GOI) to prevent corona infection when large numbers of people are likely to gather, directing that the same compulsory process of registration for Kumbh Mela yatra be adopted similar to Amarnath Yatra.
