Differently abled sportspersons to get facilities like normal players in UP

Lucknow, October 05: The Yogi government will provide all necessary facilities and rewards to the differently-abled sportspersons likewise normal players.

Awards, special training and kits will be given to differently abled players like normal players.

Along with this, โ€˜Divyangโ€™ players will be given Laxman Award, Rani Laxmi Bai Award.

Apart from this, financial assistance will also be provided to former sportspersons and wrestlers of the state, financial assistance will be provided to state sports associations and clubs for organizing competitions.

Principal Secretary Sports Kalpana Awasthi said that necessary qualifications have been set for recognition, affiliation of differently abled sportspersons and state sports associations. Recognition will be given only to those who fulfill the necessary qualifications and accept guidelines. Proposals received through State Disabled Sports Federations (SDSF) โ€” Applications, which will be received by the Sports Directorate in the current calendar year, will be considered for providing awards and other facilities as per rules. The election of the office bearers of the union will be done according to the constitution of the respective State Disabled Sports Federation.

Principal Secretary Sports informed that medal winners in National Championships of recognized Mini, Cadet, Sub Junior, Junior, Youth, Senior category and medals in Internationally recognized Para Olympic Games, Para Commonwealth Games, Para Asian Games, Para World Cup The winning SDSF players will be given prize money as per rules.

She informed that PWD players will be honoured with Laxman Award, Ranilakshmi Bai Award. Provision has been made to provide financial assistance to famous SDSF players.

She informed that such sports persons with disabilities will also be considered eligible who are the original natives of Uttar Pradesh and must have represented the SDSF team. Along with this, they must have been a student of a recognized school, college-university in the state.

The Principal Secretary informed that it will be mandatory for the concerned State Disabled Sports Federations to organize at least two competitions every year.

Awasthi said that if the income expenditure details and utility certificates related to the financial assistance given are not made available by the stipulated date, further grant will not be considered. Action will be taken as per rules. In the event of non-availability of desired information by the Sports Federation, the Director Sports Department will stop other facilities of the Association.
